The ALP says its education revolution doesn't extend to promising that all Northern Territory students in remote communities ordain get a primary educate teacher. Labor's Education spokesman Stephen Smith was in Darwin yesterday announcing funding for 200 extra remote teachers and renewing his party's assure to put more computers and broadband into the nation's high schools. "I can't rest here and say I absolutely predict it's going to be x number of teachers y number of teachers," said Territory Education Minister Paul Henderson. Mr Henderson who met briefly with Mr Smith yesterday wants a staged introduction of the welfare reforms from whoever wins on Saturday. Mr Smith while visiting a Catholic school in Darwin yesterday renewed Labor's promise of a computer for every senior high educate student and high-speed fibre-optic broadband for 99 per cent of the population. But he admits much of the Territory. North Queensland and Western Australia will be in that other one per cent reliant on slower technology.
